Custom UNS N06625 Forgings per ASTM B564: High-Temperature & Creep-Resistant Solutions
UNS N06625 nickel alloy forgings are high-temperature corrosion-resistant forged products with nickel as the base and alloying elements such as chromium, molybdenum, and niobium added. They comply with ASTM B564 standards and possess excellent high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and fatigue resistance. They are widely used in extreme working conditions in fields such as oil and gas, chemical engineering, and aerospace.
UNS N06625 (commonly known as Inconel 625) represents the pinnacle of nickel-based superalloy engineering. This solid-solution strengthened alloy delivers exceptional performance where other materials fail. Through precise forging under ASTM B564 standards, this alloy transforms into components with unparalleled structural integrity for the world's most demanding industrial applications. From deep-sea oil wells to jet engine combustion chambers, UNS N06625 forgings withstand conditions that would destroy conventional materials in hours.
The exceptional properties of UNS N06625 stem from its carefully balanced chemical composition:
Nickel (Ni): 58% min - Provides the fundamental matrix with inherent corrosion resistance and toughness
Chromium (Cr): 20-23% - Imparts outstanding oxidation and high-temperature corrosion resistance
Molybdenum (Mo): 8-10% - Enhances resistance to reducing acids and localized corrosion (pitting/crevice)
Niobium (Nb): 3.15-4.15% - Combines with carbon to form stable carbides, strengthening the alloy matrix
Iron (Fe): 5% max - Controlled impurity that affects magnetic properties and fabrication
Carbon (C): 0.10% max, Manganese (Mn): 0.50% max - Carefully controlled to optimize mechanical properties
This precise elemental synergy creates a material with balanced properties unmatched by competing alloys.
UNS N06625 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium superalloy strengthened primarily by the solid solution effect. Its ingeniously designed composition grants it unparalleled comprehensive properties.
Exceptional High-Temperature Strength & Oxidation Resistance: This alloy maintains excellent oxidation resistance and structural integrity at temperatures up to 1800°F (approx. 982°C), ensuring long-term stable operation in high-temperature environments.
Unmatched Corrosion Resistance: Thanks to its high nickel, chromium, and molybdenum content, N06625 exhibits superior resistance to a vast range of corrosive media, including seawater, acidic chlorides, reducing acids (e.g., hydrochloric, sulfuric), and nitrates. It is virtually immune to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, making it an ideal choice for marine applications.
Outstanding Cryogenic Toughness: The alloy retains excellent toughness and mechanical properties at cryogenic temperatures (down to -325°F / -198°C), offering an exceptionally broad service range.
Excellent Mechanical Properties: Its typical minimum properties include a tensile strength of ≥827 MPa, yield strength of ≥414 MPa, and an elongation of ≥45%, ensuring components possess sufficient strength and ductility under high loads.
The forging process is central to unlocking the full potential of N06625 alloy. Hot working is typically conducted within the temperature range of 1700°F to 2150°F (927°C to 1177°C). Through precise plastic deformation, the forging process refines the grain structure, eliminates casting defects, and significantly enhances the material's mechanical properties, particularly its toughness and fatigue resistance.
For large or complex-shaped forgings, forging is the only viable strengthening method. According to ASTM standards, forged products (such as bars, billets) are typically available in different heat-treated conditions to suit various operating environments:
Annealed Condition (Grade 1): Suitable for service temperatures below 1100°F (593°C), where the material offers a good balance of strength and excellent corrosion resistance.
Solution Annealed Condition (Grade 2): Designed for service temperatures above 1100°F (593°C), where the material provides superior creep and rupture resistance.
Furthermore, the forging process can produce complex components like flanges in compliance with ASTM B564, or produce forms like bars and billets per ASTM B446, ensuring quality control from raw material to semi-finished product.
Aerospace: Engine components, gas turbine parts, fasteners, propeller blades.
Marine & Shipbuilding: Submarine propulsion systems, marine exhaust stacks, fasteners and cable sheathing exposed to seawater, seawater heat exchangers.
Energy & Chemical Processing: Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) scrubbers, chemical processing equipment (resistant to both oxidizing and reducing acids), pollution control ducting, nuclear power systems, coal gasification and liquefaction units.
Oil & Gas: Deep-sea production systems, valves, flanges, and piping components in high-pressure, highly corrosive oil and gas environments.
Industrial Equipment: Critical components in harsh environments of the pulp and paper industry, steam line bellows, etc.
Superior Performance: The material itself excels in extreme temperatures, pressures, and corrosive environments.
Guaranteed Quality: Strict adherence to ASTM, AMS, and other international standards in production and inspection ensures consistent performance across all batches.
Professional Processing: Utilization of advanced forging and heat treatment technologies maximizes material performance and structural reliability.
Rich Application Experience: Deep understanding of various industry needs enables us to provide precise technical selection advice.
