Material Overview

Hastelloy C-276 is a premier nickel-molybdenum-chromium superalloy with tungsten addition, engineered to deliver excellent corrosion resistance across a wide spectrum of aggressive chemical environments. It is highly resistant to hot contaminated mineral acids, wet chlorine gas, and seawater.

• Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in both oxidizing and reducing media.
• Superior Weldability: Low carbon and silicon content prevents grain boundary precipitate formation in the weld heat-affected zone, preserving full corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition.
• Wide Temperature Range: Retains strength and structural integrity from cryogenic temperatures up to approximately 1040°C (1900°F).

Hastelloy C-276 (NAS NW276) demonstrates dramatically superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance compared to conventional stainless steels and other nickel alloys, as measured by Critical Pitting Temperature (CPT) and Critical Crevice Temperature (CCT) testing.
