Incoloy Nickel-Iron-Chromium Alloy 800H Customizable Machining Components 

 

Incoloy 800H is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy that is part of the family of 800 series of alloys, which also includes Incoloy 800 and 800HT. Known for its high strength and resistance to oxidation, carburization, and other types of high-temperature corrosion, Alloy 800H is a modified version of Incoloy 800 with improved creep strength due to closer control of carbon, aluminum, and titanium levels.


 
Properties:
 
  • High Temperature Strength: Alloy 800H maintains a stable structure during exposure to high temperatures, which is particularly critical in applications involving prolonged exposure to temperatures of 600 degrees Celsius or above.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to oxidation, nitriding, carburization, and sulfidation.
  • Good Creep Rupture Strength: Enhanced creep strength at temperatures up to 982°C (1800°F).
  • Ductility: Retains ductility during long service. This is essential for fabrication purposes such as forming and bending.
 
Applications:
Alloy 800H is utilized across various high-temperature applications due to its robust performance in harsh environments. Typical uses include:
 
  • Pressure Vessels and Heat Exchangers in chemical and petrochemical processing.
  • Equipment for Heat-Treating Equipment.
  • Industrial Furnaces and components such as conveyor belts, rollers, and refractory supports.
  • Superheater and Reheater Tubing in power generation plants.
  • Ethylene Furnace Quench Boilers.
 
Machinability and Workability:
While Incoloy 800H can be difficult to machine, it is done regularly with processes and equipment suitable for nickel alloys. Oil-based lubricants are typically recommended. The material can be formed using conventional methods but should be annealed after severe cold or hot working to reduce internal stress and optimize corrosion resistance.
 
Weldability:
Incoloy 800H can be welded by common welding techniques, using a matching filler metal. Preheating is not required, and post-weld heat treatment should be considered to achieve desired properties.
