2. Material Overview

Nickel 201 (UNS N02201) is a commercially pure wrought nickel alloy with a nickel content of over 99%. It is essentially the same as Nickel 200, but with a significantly lower carbon content (max 0.02%), which prevents intergranular embrittlement at temperatures above 315°C (600°F). The lower carbon content also reduces hardness, providing excellent ductility and making it ideal for cold forming, spinning, and applications requiring sustained exposure to temperatures up to 1260°C. Nickel 201 exhibits outstanding resistance to a wide range of reducing chemicals, caustic alkalis, and neutral/alkaline salt solutions. It is ferromagnetic at room temperature and offers excellent electrical and thermal conductivity.
