Hot Forging Rings ASTM Hastelloy C-22 N06022 Forged Sleeves in Marine Engineering

Hastelloy C-22 is another high-performance nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy known for its outstanding resistance to a wide range of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizers such as ferric acids, acetic anhydride, and seawater. It’s recognized for being one of the most versatile corrosion-resistant alloys available. Here are the details of Hastelloy C-22 nickel alloy forged rings:

Physical Properties:

  • Density: 8.69 g/cm³
  • Melting Range: 1399-1446°C (2550-2635°F)

Heat Treatment:
Forging of Hastelloy C-22 should be performed between 1750℉ and 2050℉ (955℃ and 1121℃), and the material should be rapidly cooled afterward. This alloy is not hardenable by heat treatment.

Corrosion Resistance:

  • Excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking.
  • Ability to withstand a variety of chemical environments, including those with oxidizing and reducing conditions.

Applications:
Due to its excellent mechanical properties at both ambient and elevated temperatures, Hastelloy C-22 is used in:

  • Chemical processing
  • Pollution control
  • Pulp and paper production
  • Waste treatment
  • Marine engineering
  • Specialty and industrial heat exchangers

Standards:
The forged rings of Hastelloy C-22 must comply with various standards, including ASTM B574, B564, as well as ASME SB574, SB564 for chemical composition, mechanical properties, and acceptable manufacturing practices.

Fabrication:
Despite its high strength, Hastelloy C-22 can be fabricated using techniques similar to those used for stainless steels.

In summary, Hastelloy C-22 forged rings offer advanced corrosion resistance and are used in applications requiring materials capable of withstanding harsh chemical environments. When specification is required, it is important to collaborate closely with manufacturers to adhere to strict standards that ensure the quality and performance of the final product.
