Nickel Alloy Plates Incoloy 800/800H/800HT Useful Resistance to High-temperature Oxidation 

 

Incoloy 800, 800H, and 800HT are part of the family of nickel-iron-chromium alloys designed for high temperature strength and resistance to oxidation and carburization. These materials are similar but have slightly different compositions and properties, making them suitable for specific high-temperature applications. Here are the details for each:


Incoloy 800:

  • Composition: Consists primarily of nickel (around 30-35%), chromium (around 19-23%), and iron, making up the balance. It may also contain small amounts of aluminum and titanium.
  • Key Properties: Offers good strength and excellent resistance to oxidation and carburization at elevated temperatures.
  • Applications: Widely used in heat exchangers, piping, and furnace components. It's suitable for applications in the petrochemical and chemical industries, as well as in power plants and thermal processing factories.

Incoloy 800H:

  • Composition: Similar to Incoloy 800 but with a higher carbon content (0.05 to 0.10%) which enhances the creep-rupture strength.
  • Key Properties: Provides excellent resistance to oxidation, sulfidation, and carburization. Its higher carbon content improves strength at temperatures above 1100°F (593°C).
  • Applications: Ideal for high-temperature applications, such as industrial furnaces, heat-treating equipment, and superheater and re-heater tubing in power plants.

Incoloy 800HT:

  • Composition: Very similar to 800H but further modified to control the aluminum and titanium levels (up to 1.20%) which ensures optimum high temperature properties.
  • Key Properties: Offers superior resistance to high-temperature corrosion, oxidation, and carburization. Maintains excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures.
  • Applications: Used in applications requiring high-temperature strength and resistance to carburization and oxidation. Common uses include pressure vessels, heat exchangers, petrochemical heater tubes, and other high-temperature environments.

Plate Details:

  • These alloys can be availed in various thicknesses and sizes, tailored to meet the requirements of specific applications.
  • They exhibit strong resistance to thermal fatigue and cyclic heating.
  • Well suited for forming and welding with proper technique.
