The Monel K500 (UNS N05500) forging bar is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines the excellent corrosion resistance of Monel 400 with the added advantages of greater strength and hardness. Manufactured in full compliance with ASTM B865 standards, this alloy is the material of choice for demanding marine and offshore engineering applications where both mechanical performance and environmental durability are critical.

Key Features

  • Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: Outstanding resistance to seawater, brackish water, and a wide range of chemical environments including hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, and alkaline solutions.
  • Age-Hardenable: Precipitation hardening treatment provides significantly higher strength and hardness compared to Monel 400, with tensile strength exceeding 965 MPa.
  • Low Magnetic Permeability: Non-magnetic down to cryogenic temperatures, making it ideal for sensitive marine instrumentation and electronic applications.
  • High Fatigue Strength: Excellent resistance to fatigue and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-rich environments such as seawater.
  • Good Weldability: Compatible with standard welding procedures including GTAW, SMAW, and GMAW for fabrication of complex components.
