Before introducing non-magnetic drill collars and non-magnetic drill pipes, let's first introduce what non-magnetic steel is.
Non-magnetic steel is made of low-carbon high-chromium high-manganese alloy steel, with good low magnetic permeability, high-strength mechanical properties, excellent intergranular corrosion cracking resistance and excellent wear resistance. The relative magnetic permeability of non-magnetic steel μr ≤ 1.010, and the magnetic induction gradient of the inner hole at any distance of 100mm is ≤ 0.05μT.
Non-magnetic drill collar: Mainly used for oil exploration
1. Non-magnetic drill collars are generally produced according to API7-1 standard, and the length is generally 9150mm or 9450mm.
2. According to the shape, they can be divided into non-magnetic drill collars, non-magnetic pressure drill pipes, non-magnetic short joints, non-magnetic spiral drill collars, etc.
Non-magnetic drill pipe: Mainly used in horizontal directional drilling systems in underground coal mines.
1. Non-magnetic drill pipe is the auxiliary equipment of directional drilling while drilling measurement.
2. It has the functions of reducing external interference to the measurement while drilling device, signal transmission, conveying the power medium of the bottom hole motor and the power transmission of the drilling rig, etc.
The material are P530 & P550 that we produce non-magnetic drill collar and non-magnetic drill pipe. After testing, the P550 material has reached the foreign non-magnetic steel standard requirements.

The method of electric furnace smelting and then AOD furnace refining is adopted. It can ensure ultra-low C in the material, and then add alloy elements such as Mo and Ni to improve strength and wear resistance. In addition, gas content N is added to the steel to improve strength.
In terms of forging, various forging processes are adopted according to the size of the material, such as free forging and radial forging machine, and the process of hot forging first and then warm forging is adopted. The forging temperature and deformation are strictly controlled to ensure the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the material.
